To celebrate Phill’s birthday last weekend, I took him to the Old Inn, Crawfordsburn for a romantic overnight stay. Crawfordsburn is a tiny little village in County Down, about a 20 minute drive from Belfast city centre. The Old Inn itself dates back to 1614 and has its own restaurant and outdoor space. I’ve been to the Old Inn twice before – once for a wedding over ten years ago, and more recently for lunch. I’ve always wanted to stay over so I decided to book a room for Phill’s birthday treat and I also booked us a table for dinner.

Since having Rose, this was our first time staying in a hotel on our own so it was quite special. Upon check-in we were delighted to find we were given one of the big honeymoon suites. The Fuschia Room had a huge four poster bed, seating area and opulent fabrics…plus an all-important coffee machine to get our caffeine fix! If you like oldy-worldy charm then you’ll love the decor at the Old Inn.
Once we got ourselves dressed up for dinner at the hotel, we headed to the bar first for drinks and to sit by the fire. It was really nice to enjoy some quality couple time together – hold hands across the table, stare lovingly into one another’s eyes…you get the gist 😉
