Say hello to my darling little daughter Rose! She is exactly two weeks old today and I have been enjoying the whirlwind newborn phase! I am in awe of my little baby – she has lovely temperment and cries only when she is hungry. I am breastfeeding and this has so far been rewarding and tiring! The days are flying by and sometimes I feel the only thing I have achieved is feeding baby, but I suppose that’s enough, isn’t it? Rose was 5lbs 12.5oz when she was born but within ten days she had surpassed her birth weight by 2oz – something I’m told doesn’t often happen with breastfed babies.
Rose arrived on her due date of 31 August – very prompt of her! I am always late to things so she obviously doesn’t get her timeliness from me lol. I will probably share some of the birth details with you at a later date but for now I wanted to share these newborn pictures that proud Daddy Phill took of Rose at seven days old.
Phill has had two weeks at home with us which has been amazing. I couldn’t have got through the first two weeks without him looking after us. Phill and Rose’s grandparents have done so much around the house – allowing me to fully concentrate on feeding Rose. Giving birth and looking after your first baby is overwhelming and emotional, but it’s amazing how quickly you adapt to your new life. There is no semblance of a daily routine as yet but now that Phill has returned to work, I hope Rose and I will find our feet and develop our own routine in time.
Thank you to everyone for their well-wishes, I look forward to sharing my journey as a parent with you on Willow Lane. Wish me luck!
