With my beloved Aunt, Mum (Future Grandma!) and Cousin.
My Miffy themed baby shower was a total and utter surprise to me. I had absolutely no idea that my Mum-in-law was organising a baby shower get-together for family and friends. I’ve never had a surprise party thrown for me before so you can imagine how taken aback I was when I arrived at my in-laws house and saw my nearest and dearest huddled in the garden. Some people said it was the first time they’d seen me cry lol! I think the mix of utter shock at the surprise and dismay that I was the most casually dressed person at my baby shower that brought the tears to my eyes!
Once I got some food into me I started to calm down and enjoy my baby shower. I was delighted that my lovely Mum-in-law Susan had made it Miffy themed – she knows me well! The very first baby item I bought was a Miffy mobile from TK Maxx. I’ve since got two Miffy toys and Miffy books (and I’m yearning after this Miffy lamp)!
Susan is an amazing baker and made not only my Miffy cake, but over 70 cupcakes and a ton of buns and savoury food too. I didn’t even spot the sweet corner she had set up until the end of the day! There seemed to be a surprise around every corner – from a nappy cake to a pink lemonade drinks kilner to a mountain of presents and fun baby shower games. There was so much effort put in by family and friends (and Phill) to make the day a brilliant event.
With my Mum-in-law and my tasty Miffy cake!
Baby Showers are definitely becoming more popular in the UK. I attended two last year but never dreamt of having my own. As you may well guess from the pictures, there was a lot of pink on display. So spoiler…I’m having a girl! Phill and I are delighted at the prospect of having a daughter and it was so lovely to receive so many beautiful items of clothing and thoughtful gifts for our baby – who is due at the end of August.
A big thank you to everyone who helped plan my baby shower, came with such lovely gifts and made the day so special.
Whacking a dummy pinata full of sweeties and watching the ladies struggle with pregnancy twister was fun!
From a hand-knitted pink cardigan to beautiful blankets and cuddly toys, my baby is spoilt rotten already.
