Just last week I attended a special TK Maxx event held in Belfast city centre. It was a rather eccentric night of dining amongst duvets in a fort (a soft furnishing addicts dream) whilst being introduced to TK Maxx’s latest campaign, entitled ‘Ridiculous Possibilities’. Obviously, I enjoyed every minute.
‘Ridiculous Possibilities’ basically sums up why I adore shopping at TK Maxx. I consider TK Maxx to be the consummate shopper’s paradise. Us shopaholics are not scientific beings – we are led by our emotions…we love the thrill of the chase and the anticipation of discovering a gem of a product. TK Maxx offers us a fun and unpredictable shopping experience – where we can get everything from key fashion items to quirky homewares and designer skincare products…all at great prices.
“We travel the globe to find one-off gems and amazing fashion from the world’s best designers, including items that are as unique as you are, and prices you won’t see anywhere else.” TK Maxx.
I don’t go to TK Maxx with a shopping list…but I always have a ‘wishlist’ in my head. This is a very practical and sensible list, consisting of ‘Kate Spade handbag’, ‘Fossil watch’ and ‘Anything by Orla Kiely’. If I happen upon one of those things then nine times out of ten I can’t resist splurging. It’s virtually impossible for me to say ‘no’, or to leave TK Maxx empty handed. Usually I purchase a plethora of items, which will be in no way related. It could be a snazzy chopping board (yes there is such a thing), a beautiful baby blanket, luxurious underwear or a designer denim jacket. TK Maxx is not, I repeat NOT, for the methodical shopper.
But getting back to the event itself! I attended with my blogger hubs Ian of Rogues and Brogues, who was extremely attentive to my pregnant state. When the event got underway, we were served food on low lying tables in a roomy fort made up of colourful TK Maxx stocked duvets, sheets, pillows and cushions. Being over six months pregnant, I was wrestling with tummy discomfort and a persistent foot cramp so Ian was at hand to plump cushions and prop me up comfortably!
The TK Maxx #DuvetDining menu is the brainchild of celebrity chef Gizzi Erskine…and she truly embraced the ‘Ridiculous Possibilities’ spec. We were treated to a seven course tasting menu, which included a tomato consommé served in a tea pot and cup, goats cheese mousse with vegetables, crispy Korean chicken wings, and créme brulee served in an egg shell. As you can imagine the dishes were a real conversation starter and all attendees had a good giggle and munch!
Thank you to TK Maxx for inviting me to this magical event.
