Thanks to some amazing Christmas gifts from Phill I am feeling really motivated to continue with blogging this year. He’s kitted me out nicely for 2015 so here’s hoping Willow Lane continues to grow and get better.
What is it about a new year that makes you want to make changes and start anew? I’m not one for making massive new year’s resolutions but here are some of my blogging goals for 2015…
1. PLAN MORE EFFICIENTLY – I’m one of those people who enjoys planning but even I can get a bit lazy with it. This time last year I bought a beautiful A4 Orla Kiely notebook to help keep me focused on the blog and plan out various posts. And whilst I’ve used it lots and found it really useful it is too big to take with me in my handbag on a day-to-day basis. I find myself using my phone to take down notes and log my inspiration for blog-related things. Therefore I’m not keeping all my Willow Lane info in one place. This file-o-fax is small enough to put in my handbag…and looks very professional too! Phill put a lot of thought into this gift and designed and printed up some custom pages to include in the small binder!
2. GROW AS A PHOTOGRAPHER – I want to push myself to be more creative with my photography this year. I need to set aside time to explore my camera settings and capture new images. I have a good few photography books which I really should dip in and out or more. My big present from Phill this year was a wide angle lens for my camera. I’ve wanted one of these for a while now as I’d like to take more home interiors shots and a wide lens is great for this . I also got some fab clip on lenses for my phone – a macro lens, wide angle lens and fish eye lens! I can carry these around in the little black bag they come in for those moments when I have a bit more time to capture a really cool image with my phone camera.
3. VLOG MORE – I’ve been doing videos for a year now and I’m enjoying them more than ever. Now that I’m well used to filming and editing, it’s not as time consuming as it was in the beginning! I also feel more at ease in front of the camera and I hope you guys like my videos as I want to do more in 2015. I loved vlogging my time in LA last summer and I can’t wait to video our time in New York in March (to celebrate our 30th birthdays!). I’m looking forward to trying out my monopod for vlogging whilst I’m away.
