I feel pretty lucky that this beautiful countryside is (almost) right at my front door. I grew up in Lisburn, just a few miles from Belfast in an idyllic area where my parents house backs onto fields and the Lagan towpath was close-by for picturesque walks. Now that I live in a more built up area, I appreciate getting back to nature so much more. The green fields and pretty views that I grew up with are no longer there when I open the curtains so I have to actively seek out nature now.
Phill and I headed to Cavehill Country Park last Sunday and we really couldn’t have picked a brighter more perfect winters day. We were out walking for an hour and a half and it was so refreshing. We walked to the top of McArt’s Fort and the views over Belfast were impressive.
