When you first have a baby you become that annoying parent that wants to capture every little moment on camera, on video, willing yourself to forever remember all the newborn moments that are so fleeting. It’s so wonderful seeing your little one grow and develop their own little personality, but strangely there is also a sadness that they are getting older and becoming more independent with each passing day. Rose hasn’t even had one full year on earth and I am already getting teary thinking about how big and beautiful she is!
So as we’ve gathered, I am a soppy parent. And when I was introduced to Impress Me Life Casting by Emir Holohan I fell in love with her work as it appealed to my sentimental side. Emir, who is based in Belfast, takes the most detailed 3D impressions of baby’s hands and feet using alginate. She also does adult impressions, including beautiful hand casts for newlyweds. When I seen examples of her work I immediately knew I wanted to take Rose to have her chubby little hands and feet captured in cast form. How wonderful to forever capture her little form.
When Rose was five months old we travelled to Emir’s house to get impressions done. Emir suggested a hand and a foot but she can do any combination you want – both hands or both feet, if you prefer. The good news is the casting takes just minutes. Emir prepared the mould in a bowl and once it was ready she placed Rose’s hand in the mixture. She then repeated the process for Roses’s foot . Rose wasn’t a bit perturbed and I was surprised to find the process wasn’t the least bit messy.
When it came to picking up the final impressions last week I became a little teary when I saw them and gave Emir a great big hug. The framed hand and foot impressions with the gold name plaque was more beautiful than I expected. Emir done an exceptional job and I can’t get over the detail of Rose’s hand and foot – the fingernails and the fine lines…amazing! The way Emir has presented and framed the impressions is really modern and fresh looking and I honestly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her work to others. It’s such a wonderful keepsake for your family to treasure forever.
