There’s a brand new app in town that gives food lovers the chance to enjoy buy-one-get-one-free offers at some great restaurants. The app is Ohh Social and one of the great deals they have on is with Malmaison Hotel in Belfast. I recently went along to try out the food with two blogging friends – Ian of Rogues and Brogues and Caelan of Better Half Blog. Like most of us, we love a bargain and we really like the Ohh Social concept – get out and about and enjoy experiences at a fraction of the price. When you sign up to the app for £19 you get exclusive deals from 4 key sectors – Wine & Dine, Health & Beauty, Leisure & Attractions and Kids Activities
Malmaison will be offering:
Buy one afternoon tea & get one free
Buy two courses from the Price Fixed Menu & get two free
Buy one cocktail & get one free
I’d never dined at Malmaison Belfast so looked forward to trying out their Summer Fixed Price Menu – which is available across all Malmaison UK hotels. For starters we all ordered the same thing – the pea and pancetta croquettes. The serving size was more than generous with four long polenta crumb croquettes on each plate. They were so moreish, especially when dunked in the truffle mayonnaise.
For mains, Ian and I both opted for the healthy sounding chicken flatbread. Grilled chicken was served on a flatbread with slices of beef tomato, avocado and lots of lettuce. Other than the avocado not being ripe enough for me and the presentation being underwhelming, it was a nice dish to enjoy on a warm summers evening. I can imagine this going down really well with lunchtime crowds.
For dessert, I again opted for the healthy option – the aptly named ‘Healthy Summer Sundae’, which consisted of oats, vanilla Greek yogurt, raspberries and chopped banana. When it arrived on my table it looked really impressive but it was just too large to finish! Whilst the menu said the oats would be toasted this was not the case, which was a shame as I think the dish would have benefited from some crunch. Ian meanwhile ordered the trio of desserts and these looked so pretty I just had to take a picture. He got to tuck into peach and amaretto cream, a berry smoothie and strawberry pavalova. To find out what Caelan ordered check out his blog post – which incidently is his very first post!
It was great catching up with the two boys over a summer evening meal. My favourite dish was definitely the croquettes I had for starters. I’d order those again in a heartbeat. If you’re looking for a summery menu with plenty of healthy options then I’d recommend the Malmaison offer on Ohh Social. I’ve also heard good things about their Afternoon Tea. Check it out!
