The thought of blogging by a desk does not fill me with joy…which is why I don’t do it very often. I work at a desk during my 9-5 job so when I’m blogging on my laptop during the evenings and weekends, I sure as heck don’t want to be by a desk.
I get inspired by changing up my blogging patterns and very much choose writing locations based on my mood. But the one constant is a need for a colourful space. Sometimes I like the peace and quiet of blogging from bed and I find the strong moroccan orange colour in my bedroom soothing and inspiring. During the summer I’ll bring my laptop outside to my garden. Fresh air and pretty flowers can do wonders for the soul, and I like to make the most of the mild weather before autumn well and truly sets in.
Often I’ll thrive off the Saturday morning hustle and bustle of a coffee shop, and come up with my best ideas when hopped up on caffeine and cake. The National in Belfast is one of my favourite places to perch myself on a Saturday with my laptop. You can’t help but be taken in with the tall ceilings, natural wood tables and colorful wall art. Plus they do fab coffee!
When hp challenged me to take part in their #BendTheRules of colour campaign I knew I wanted to highlight my unconventional blogging habits and the colourful walks of my life. I find art, music and nature incredibly inspiring – and the more colourful the better! I think when you have a creative job, working from different, vibrant locations is essential. If you were staring at the same wall, piece of artwork, or listening to the same music then things would get stale…and boring.
There’s a lot to be said for changing up your routine, seeking out colour and going about your everyday tasks in new ways – whether you blog or not. Not only can it induce creativity, but it often leads to meeting new people, discovering new opportunities and resolving any problems you may be having. How you seek out inspiration and colour in your life?
I wanted to give you a taster of my different colourful blogging whereabouts in the video below. You’ll see me with my new white hp Pavilion laptop* in some of my favourite blogging locations. I’ve only ever blogged with an hp laptop, and my newest one is the most stunning yet. The exterior is ‘blizzard white’ and the keyboard has a gradient black to white effect. As well as white, the laptop comes in other expressive colours like sunset red, cobalt blue and violet purple. The laptop has impressive power – with an i3 processor and 8GB ram. It’s also lightweight and thin so it’s no trouble carrying it about with me.
Be sure to let me know how you like to bend the rules to keep things fresh and fun!
