Breakfast is my most favourite meal and I absolutely love having a leisurely morning breakfast at the weekend with Phill. During the week breakfast is usually a rushed affair so there’s nothing as nice as setting up the dining room table prettily at the weekend to linger over a romantic breakfast.
When Furniture Choice approached me to create a romantic dining experience at home to celebrate February the month of romance I leapt at the chance to get involved. It was a great excuse to get my nice tableware out and to splurge on some new items thanks to a voucher for notonthehighstreet.com.
As spring approaches, I’ve been swapping my porridge for granola with greek yogurt and fresh berries. I love keeping my luxurious granola in these vintage style glass jars, and I served up the yogurt and berries in these romantic heart shaped bowls.
Whilst I was shopping for my breakfast food I decided to pick up extra berries and fresh beets to make my first ever smoothie. My Instagram and Pinterest feeds have been littered with colourful vegan smoothies in mason jars so I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon! I love my new cocktail glass jars – they make drinking a smoothie that bit more fun. To add a touch more romance I purchased pretty letterpress arrows of love coasters. These are absolutely beautiful.
Personally I don’t think breakfast is complete without bread of some sort. This beetroot and apple loaf was absolutely delicious spread with a generous helping of butter. I displayed the bread in my new glass dome food cover. I’ve been wanting an item like this for so long as I just think they make a real statement.
I hope you’ve taken some inspiration for setting up a romantic dining table area this weekend – whether it’s for a beautiful breakfast feast or delicious homemade dinner. I know I don’t make enough time to set up the table at mealtimes but I’m going to make more of an effort in future – no tv and no distractions, just good food and the company of my favourite person.
