I’ve always loved looking through pictures of my mum and dad in the seventies, especially the ones of them on holiday sunning themselves. I think these photos are the reason I love the seventies and the style of the era. I’ve always said, if I could choose to go back in time I’d love to go back to the 1970s. Some people say it’s the decade style forgot, but I beg to differ!
Whilst I’m lucky that my mum kept some of her old clothes, unfortunately I didn’t get my hands on any of the handmade dresses in these pics. I have, however, got her chic Wallis coat, a knee-length woollen skirt and a pair of amazing bell-bottom jeans! My mum is a talented dressmaker and used to make most of her own clothes. She regularly makes alterations to my clothes and recently customised some dresses for me to take on holiday.
For my trip to Florida I plan on bringing simple cotton dresses with me to wear with sandals, and a pair of summery wedges for evening time. Of course, my lovely mum is my style inspiration…
